Formula Student Netherlands 2021
After a pause forced by the pandemic, the anticipation for the first Formula Student Event of the 2021 season was enormous. Unfortunately, the season preparation didn’t look so promising, as problems often accumulated with the self-developed parts such as inverters and electronics, which forced us to have many downtimes during the testing days. Nevertheless, we traveled to Assen, where the Formula Student Netherlands event was held at the legendary TT Circuit Assen. Unfortunately, some members of the team had to stay at home, as the Corona rules at the time forced all teams to appear in limited numbers.

After a few turbulent days in the Scrutineering, we barely managed to compete in the first dynamic discipline in the Skid-Pad. Since the performance of alvier was still relatively limited at that time, it was all the more surprising when I was able to take victory in this discipline with a few thousandths of an advantage. With this momentum we moved on to the next disciplines, but from then on the problems from the test days started to accumulate again, leading to shutdowns during the individual disciplines and the retirement in the second lap of the Endurance. In the meantime, our business team qualified for the finals, where I worked with our team for about 4 months to develop a business plan related to our race car, which is then presented at the events and evaluated by judges from the financial industry. Unfortunately, we were only 0.2 points short for the win in this category, but we were still very enthusiastic about the result.
In the end it was enough for the 5th place in the overall ranking of the Formula Student Netherlands. On the one hand, we were able to achieve great individual results, but the car was not yet up to the level to fight for the overall victory. The fact that it was enough for fifth place is due to the great will in the team, who had to deal with many problems during those days and always gave everything to provide alvier in a ready to drive state for each discipline. With this attitude, we returned to prepare as best we could for the next event in Austria.
